Our Goals

Childhood is a time that is full of discoveries; however, on numerous occasions, children can experience situations in which, through the attitude of those around them, they discover that something serious may be happening to them. Going into hospital is one of the experiences that can be traumatic for children, as it separates them from their home environment, their friends and their games.

The Fundación Theodora was born with the aim of relieving through laughter the suffering of children spending time in hospital through laughter. It works towards that aim by organising weekly visits by professional artists, the Clown Doctors (or, as they are known in Spain, the Doctores Sonrisa), who devote their time and attention to children who have been hospitalised.

During their personalised visits, the Clown Doctors play, improvise and direct their performance towards the child, attempting to involve him or her so that, for a while, he or she can forget where they are and discover a world of colour, music, magic and smiles.
