Our Activities
In March 2001, at the end of rigorous training process (both theoretical and practical), carried out with the support and experience of the Theodora Foundation (in Switzerland), the first French trainees became clown doctors and delivered their first "prescriptions" of "made in France" joviality in hospitals.
The Theodora association adopted the same principles as those used in the other Theodora Foundations throughout the world :
* every week, the clown doctor pays a personal visit to the children in a particular ward so they can spend exclusive time with them, which is unique and always different. The child is the focus of the clown doctor's attention - he or she is in the animation, not watching a "show" laid on for him or her by one or two artists.
* a partnership with the hospital, with the medical teams and carers. This dedication extends throughout the contents of the training programs, both at the start and throughout, whic was provided with the help of a training institute in the field of nursing. It is the reason why partnering companies or private donors have chosen to provide financing, meaning that the hospital is not solely reliant on donations. The clown doctors' visits are free of charge to the children and of course to the hospitals.
