4. Applying to be a clown doctor

Any artist interested in following the training programme to become a clown doctor with the Theodora association should supply :

- 1 curriculum vitae
- 2 photos
- 1 application letter
- 2 references
- 1 completed candidate questionnaire (supplied by the association).

The candidate must have done one of the following professionally :
- worked as an artist and/or
- worked with children.

Having studied the above documents, the association makes an initial selection. The candidates who pass this first step are invited to attend for :

* a more in-depth interview
* a presentation of the association's activities
* observation of a visit by a senior clown doctor.

Following this second phase, the candidates who are finally selected will be able to take part in the association's training programme.


After they have taken part in a complete training programme (see above), the clown doctor trainees will be evaluated on the basis of :

* their sensitivity
* their emotional maturity
* their ability to listen, their empathy and what motivates them
* their artistic ability
* their knowledge of the hospital environment
* their professional background
* their availability to work for the Theodora association.
