Training for new clown doctors

The training of a clown doctor takes approximately one year, followed by a year as junior clown doctor.

The initial full-scale training consists of workshops covering medical awareness and artistic development. These are run by hospital staff and members of the current clown doctor team. In addition to workshop training, all trainees complete a series of hospital visits where they observe our current clown doctors and are themselves observed.

During this whole process, there is continual assessment by both the trainee and the Trust.
