Since 2000 the association Théodora has the objective of bringing laughter, smiles, colour, and music to hospitalized children through the work of its clown doctors, professional artists trained to work in a hospital environment. The clown doctors visit 12 paediatric departments on a weekly basis. Once at the child's bedside, they draw on their improvisation and entertainment skills to create a little sketch. By adapting to the child's health and ability to move and communicate they allow the child to become an active part in the magic that is played out. The clown doctors regularly attend ongoing training seminars. Their work is continually assessed to ensure the best possible service. They are bound by medical confidentiality and do not engage in any form of therapy or medical care.
